After a drought of 41 years, India has a chance to win two Olympic hockey medals in as many days. The Indian men’s bronze medal match against Germany ended in a 5-4 comeback victory, while on Friday, the Indian women’s bronze medal match against Great Britain will be held at the Oi Hockey Stadium.

India needs their penalty corner drag flicker Gurjit Kaur to produce and their deep defence led by Deep Grace Ekka to avoid being pegged back like they were by Argentina. On Friday, India must prevent a repeat of the semi-final, when they were forced to waste time chasing the ball in vain as Argentina went rampant.

With four goals at the Tokyo Olympics, Hannah Martin leads Great Britain in scoring. For India, Vandana Katariya has been the most productive scorer with three goals.

To date, the British have made 678 substitutes, significantly more than the third-most, India’s 607.
