The U.S. Food and Drug Administration or more popularly known as the FDA, made an announcement recently. They announced on Monday that they had taken the decision and then they have issued an emergency use authorization for the ACON Laboratories Flowflex COVID-19 Home Test. This is a home test for the COVID 19.
The users can buy this and they will be able to detect if they have COVID 19. It is kind of like the first test at home. It is an over-the-counter test that will be available at the local pharmacy of the states.
The over-the-counter (OTC) COVID-19 antigen test will be useful and it is very practical to have such a test available for the public. However, this is not the first one of such tests to have been issued by the FDA. They have issued similar tests before too, and that’s why this is coming as no surprise to us.
However the more products available, the more helpful to the public it is. So we are not complaining about this test which will be added to the growing list of tests that can be bought over the counter and then can be used at home without a prescription.
They are all very handy and comes at a relatively cheaper price. It is not different than taking a pregnancy test at home. The company ACON has said that within the coming year they will be producing more than 1 million tests. It is indeed very cool to have such products at hand.
“This action that had been taken by the FDA does the deed to highlight our continued commitment that we have in the public in order to increase the availability of appropriately accurate and reliable OTC tests. This is all done in order to meet public health needs,” said Jeffrey E. Shuren who is the director of FDA’s Center for Devices and Radiological Health.
Most of the antigen tests are for a single person doing a few times. It is a series of tests. If you have not seen it before then we hope that you do not have to see it any time either!
