Delta Plus Variant Under Close Watch in US

There is a lot of debate that had been going on around and about the delta plus variant that had been found in the United Kingdom. This is also a cause of concern, though not too much yet since it is not affecting many people right now. But the number of cases are now going up and up, and that seems to concern a lot of people in the world.

There had indeed been a lot of debates going on about the sub-variant known as the delta plus. This is really a good thing since this would help us find the real matter. Whether the delta plus variant is going to be more dangerous and more contagious than the previous delta variant is not known, but some scientists are claiming that it is really going to be the case.

Delta Plus Variant Under Close Watch in US

Francois Balloux, who is the director of the Genetics Institute at University College London, said in one of the statements that it could be 10%-15% more contagious than what we have seen in the delta variant. If you don’t already know about the delta variant, then it is confirmed that you are living under a rock, this is a virus that first appeared in India.

It is said that this virus is a whole lot more contagious, and it spreads easier than Ebola, SARS, MERS, and the 1918 Spanish flu. This info is coming all according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

“We are in here, and we are particularly going to monitor all for the sublineages now, and this is why that could impact most of the therapeutics, all of it is including such as monoclonal antibodies and vaccines,” Walensky said.

“At this point of time, there is really not much and not any of the no evidence that the sublineage AY.4.2 is something that will be impacting the effectiveness of our current vaccines or therapeutics.”

That’s all there for it now. We will keep you updated on the news. So make sure that you keep your eyes on the news.
